University Policy FIN-PURCH-08 states all IU furniture must be purchased from the pre-approved furniture list, or independently approved by the Capital Planning & Facilities Interior Design office.
Furniture standards have been established and approved by the Capital Planning & Facilities Interior Design office to promote efficient use of space resources and university funds. All furniture and furnishings, as well as building finishes such as floor, wall, and window treatments, must meet fire and safety codes. Following these policies helps to create a safe environment that enriches teaching, learning, and research activity at IU.
When purchasing furniture, review the pre-approved furniture list first. This Excel spreadsheet contains instructions for purchasing the items IU buys most often. Everything from office chairs, to corkboards, to sign displays.
If what you need is not available on the pre-approved furniture list, submit a Request for Service form to the Capital Planning & Facilities office. A representative from the Interior Design office will contact you to learn more about your situation.
