IU has completed the transition to CDW-G as its reseller of Apple products. With this first major step complete, Purchasing continues to work with CDW-G, Apple, and UITS to improve the customer experience. To that end, we’re excited to announce the following changes:
- Most Apple systems previously available through the Apple punchout will be available to the IU community through CDW-G. Many traditional Apple systems have been reimagined and equipped with Apple Silicon (i.e. M1 chip set), replacing the Intel chips that were previously used. IU’s baseline standards will be updated to Apple Silicon-enabled technology when it is released. After Apple Silicon is available in all product lines, requests for Intel chip sets will require UITS’ approval per the nonstandard devices procedure.
- System and device categories (such as iMac, MacBooks, or iPads) are located on CDW-G’s punchout landing page. Filters are available to help narrow down system specifications.
- Moving forward, Apple Care will not automatically be bundled in with Apple device purchase prices. UITS recommends adding either 3- or 4-year Apple Care as an option with each system or device.
- Review the standardized computer configurations article in the Knowledge Base for up-to-date standards, the nonstandard approval process, and ordering procedures.
